The Buffalo Bar is quite simply the best spot to enjoy sundowners in Victoria Falls whilst overlooking a game-rich waterhole.
Located just below the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant, with a spacious wooden deck overlooking the waterhole, the Buffalo Bar has an extensive drinks list, which includes cocktails, a selection of South African wines, local and imported beers, and spirits.
The Buffalo Bar serves light meals from 10.30am to 6pm, with the likes of the legendary Buffalo Bar burger, pulled pork or lamb panini, cauliflower, bacon and haloumi salad, grilled vegetable kebab or vanilla bean panacotta to sate the appetite.
Wondering how the bar got its name? While the lodge was being built, the founders would sit on the hotel site and have a few beers in the evenings. And every night, the buffaloes used to come in to the waterhole. By the end of the dry season, that herd was over 800 strong. It would take an hour and a half to come in!
Don’t forget to add your sightings to the game activity book kept at the bar, as we like to keep a record of animals have been spotted each day.
