Victoria Falls Safari Lodge recently hosted a heartwarming “Winter Warmer” event for 130 children from the local children’s home, Rose of Charity, and surrounding communities. The joyous occasion, held on 29th June, featured a delicious two-course lunch complete with dessert, while the young guests also revelled in fun activities including face painting and a jumping castle. The vibrant atmosphere was complemented by lively music from Glory Media, who kindly provided the sound for entertainment for the event.
Generous contributions from our guests from the Pack For A Purpose programme allowed for the distribution of a variety of gifts to the children. Each child received stationery, clothing, towels, and a backpack, while the home was given a soccer ball and beach balls for the children to use. Sanitary towels were provided for the older girls, while medical kits were also donated to the home.
The lodge also donated boxes of cereals, biscuits, Mazoe orange juice and condiments. In addition, 100 kilograms of flour were donated to the home, and fresh bread rolls to feed 60 people will be baked twice a week by the lodge until the flour runs out.
The “Winter Warmer” event capped off a remarkable month of community engagement and support by Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, where a series of CSR initiatives were carried out.
On June 1st, the lodge donated various linen items to the Chidobe Clinic, including 20 duvet covers, 18 duvets, 35 towels, 20 throw overs, 20 bed sheets, and 20 mosquito nets, significantly improving the clinic’s resources for patient care.
On June 7th, the lodge took part in a community clean-up which resulted in the collection of 12 bags of litter from the area allocated to it to clean, contributing to a cleaner and more beautiful environment for the local community.
The lodge also donated to a number of fundraising activities in Victoria Falls which support various worthy causes.
On June 22nd, Victoria Falls Safari Lodge hosted the Victoria Falls Youth Leadership Performance Coaching Session 2024 in partnership with Amathuba Creators and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment & Vocational Training. Held at the lodge’s Indaba Conference Room, the event was hosted by Modester Bonda, our Group Human Resource Manager, and featured guest speakers Apostle Ishmael Muponda and Arnold Jnr Musonza, offering a valuable platform for leadership training for 45 young people.
To end off a month of giving, on June 30th Victoria Falls Safari Lodge donated four netball goal posts to the Victoria Falls Education Centre, enhancing the centre’s sports facilities and encouraging physical activity among the youth.
As Victoria Falls Safari Lodge looks forward to celebrating its 30th anniversary later in the year, it continues to make a profound and lasting impact on the environment and communities of Victoria Falls and stands as a shining example of sustainability in tourism.
